Gift Guide
This is a completely random list that may help you with your shopping. Soz to anyone that now finds out what I’ve bought them. Also thanks to Jacs who helped me out with my teenage boy problem.
Kids
Kids 12 and under are usually pretty easy to buy for. It’s probably best to stick to toys and craft items as a rule. Most kids don’t get super excited about clothes even if they are AMAZING.
For crafty girls check out Diamond Dotz - they are paintings you make using dotty things. Ages 6 and up (if you get an easy one). Older kids love them too. Spotlight has a good seletcion and i’ve also got some here.
Helen and I spotted the FAO Schwarz section at Farmers. They have some really cools craft things - houses you can build out of paper, giant colouring and a Webber girl fav toy - the fashion designer set. One of us got one of these for Christmas one year and it was ace.
For boys water pistols are always good and you can never go wrong with Lego.
Lego also seems to be doing some sort of crafting thing with dots that looks cool. I just went to look this up and became transfixed by a Lego Christmas Wreath. I sort of love it.
A cookbook can be a fun present. Egg and Spoon comes highly recommended. The Edmonds Junior book is good too.
For the keen baker what about one of those spinning disks to take their decorating to the next level? There are lots of other cool baking accessories available also.
Pool and beach toys are another winner in my book. I love a big sitting chair lilo to float and read my book and I am also a big fan of the pool hammock.
Teens
Teens are a bit of a nightmare to buy for. It is very easy to stray into uncool when you think you’re being really young person. Obviously vouchers are always good, but at the end of the day cold, hard cash can often go a long way (and save their mother from sitting on a bunch of expiring vouchers they have cashed out). Here are a few other suggestions.
A wallet (with some cash in it). Often younger teens don’t have a wallet yet so this can be a good gift. Surf shops and Huffer often have good casual wallets.
Older girls love some brand action. Jewellery from Stolen Girlfriends Club and Karen Walker usually goes down well.
Mecca and Sephora are good places to browse. A makeup brush set is a good present for a teen intersted in makeup.
Teenage boys are a NIGHTMARE to buy for. Jacs’ top tip was Ripcurl hooded surf towels. I think this is a great suggestion which I have stolen.
